Chúng ta không thể sử dụng động từ chỉ trạng thái ở dạng hiện tại tiếp diễn thay vào đó sử dụng thì hiện tại đơn. Một số động từ chỉ trạng thái như: agree, belong, cost, know, like, love, matter, mean, need, seem, understand, want …
